So I thought I'd wish you all a happy new year and let you know what has been going on!
Well, what can I say - yesterday my headteacher, 6 children and I went to the House of Lords and took part in the All Party Parliamentary Group for Children's meeting on 'relationships' and what children want in the future.
There were 4 groups speaking- our school, girl guides, youth workers and a TV personality.
To say it was an awesome experience does not even come close! There were around 20 people in the public gallery listening and asking questions and around 25 people around the table.
The findings of the 4 meetings held will be published in a report in July 2013.
I found it amazing speaking to people who actually listened to our views on PSHE, its integral nature within schools and how important clear, planned provision is with regard to relationships.
I then met the CEO of the PSHE association and was invited to the bar to have drinks with him and the Baroness who chaired the meeting. AMAZING!
So how has everyone else been?

And an update to that update. Since speaking in the house of lords the head and I have been invited again to speak to the treasurer of the group because he wants to really understand pshe. An excellent opportunity for us to champion such an integral part of education!
Quite excited!

Again an update in the same vein. In the last year I have hosted visits from the DFE PSHE leads, A Baroness, the assessment and curriculum leader for the DFE, Tessa Jowell, The CEO of the PSHE association and a range of other visitors coming solely to see and talk about PSHE.
These visits have been very interesting for me to see what people come to the table with and I have learned a lot about the politics of PSHE and SRE in the 'system'.
I've also worked alongside the PSHE association supporting their work and message that PSHE should be statutory and high quality.
I model good practice to my colleagues, support SRE and PSHE in other settings, have been part of the preliminary stages of development for a PSHE based computer programme and supported teachers via email for their own teaching.
I've recently written pieces for the Sex Education Forum on Consent. I'm currently running pilots for economic education and determining needs of the children for this throughout the school.
So, Ive been pretty busy...
I hope people use this site to support their own teaching. If there is anything in particular that you want from me regarding PSHE and SRE please email me. Ill do my best to support you.

Hello Everyone. I have been AWOL for a while, busy on other things. But here I am back to update the site. I recognise we get a few people posting things about buying bespoke kitchens on here and I am considering a different kind of membership. Ill keep you informed.
